Reading II - Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Brothers and sisters:Every high priest is taken from among men and made their representative before God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. He is able to deal patiently with the ignorant and erring, for he himself is beset by weaknessand so, for this reason, must make sin offerings for himself as well as for the people. No one takes this honor upon himself but only when called by God, just as Aaron was. In the same way, it was not Christ who glorified himself in becoming high priest, but rather the one who said to him: You are my son: this day I have begotten you; just as he says in another place: You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.~~

**Jesus Christ is the High Priest and His priesthood is eternal. As High Priest He mediates between God and us. **

Every Priest is a man that God calls specifically for this ministry to represent us in His presence. Do we recognize our Priests as someone who has answered this special call? Consider how we show honor to our priests and respect the men who serve in our parish.

  1. This scripture reminds me of how humble and obedient Jesus was. He walked among us. He did not turn away from us or reject us because of our sin. He loved and valued us so much that He said "yes" to His Father. He gave His life for us. It is good to remember that our priests give their lives for us and intercede on our behalf.

  2. Amen Teresa! I am called to remember that our Priests are called by God to be priests forever. I also try to be aware that thier sacrifice for the church is celebacy. I think that this sacrifice brings many graces to our church.
